I am not sure which magazine this is from. I have a … I don’t know… 25 or 30 pound box of magazine pages and scraps that I’m scanning and throwing out (my hoarding is out of control!) I’m keeping the boxes of complete mags, but not the ones without covers or that have had stuff cut out of them, or like this box full: just loose pages. There will be a number of scans with very little information.
strange and inexplicable photo of swimsuit models being terrified by a guy with his coat over his head and a napkin tied over his nose. Scary stuff indeed.
Jacques-Henri Lartigue, “Florette”, 1944

Jacques Henri Lartigue (June 13, 1894 – September 12, 1986). French painter and photographer from a wealthy family. Began taking pictures at 6, taking photos of himself, his toys, and his family. He is most famous for his photographs of automobile races. He is called a ‘gifted amateur’. Why, I don’t know since he took the official photo portrait of the French president, was showcased at prestigious galleries and did a book in collaboration with Avedon. But there you have it, I leave the titles to the experts. This shoot was done in Paris in 1944.
